Devils Defenseman Anton Volchenkov did not fly with the team to San Jose, but he has been skating the past two days at Prudential Center and according to GM Lou Lamoriello he looks good. It was not his broken nose that prevented him from playing and practicing, but it was a stiff neck, so probably a pinch nerve. Lamoriello said that he might accompany him to San Jose, but he will not play. It looks like he might likely return next Monday in Vancouver.
Winger Brian Rolston has started light skating, but he remains out for his 4-6 week time frame. Also, defenseman Bryce Salvador has not been cleared to even exercise as he recovers from his concussion, so he has no timetable for return. Mark Fraser cannot work out for three weeks after surgery, so he remains off-ice. The Devils will practice in San Jose at 2 PM ET.
