Tedenby, Josefson, McKenna, Corrente assigned to Albany of AHL

It looks like for now top Devils prospects Jacob Josefson and Mattias Tedenby will start the year in the minors in Albany rather than the big club as the team is in the process of making its final cuts. The roster is now down to 23 players with the exception of Bryce Salvador (LTIR, concussion) and Anssi Salmela (Torn ACL, meniscus). Matt Corrente was also sent to the minors meaning Matt Taormina and Alexander Urbom have made the team for now.

GM Lou Lamoriello left open the possibility that some of the players sent down today could be brought up by Friday's opener. He is still in the process of clearing cap space, which he must do by Wednesday at 3 PM, so this could be one of the reasons these cuts took place. So, Devils fans like me who will be in attendance on Friday could still see Josefson and Tedenby, though they will likely be back and forth between NJ and Albany for the start of the season as the AHL experience will be beneficial to them. Mike McKenna will stay in Albany likely as the starting goaltender, but will be the #1 choice to be brought back up if Hedberg gets hurt.

Notes: Defenseman Rob Davison was placed on waivers today, so if he clears by noon tomorrow, he will head to Albany. All is quiet on the getting under the cap front, but Lou is clearly working on some things.
