The Devils are opening up a crucial five game western conference road trip tonight in San Jose which could very well likely decide how their season will unfold. Tonight's game as every game is a must win, but especially tonight. Though San Jose has been a Western Conference powerhouse in the past few years, the Devils cannot be intimidated by it. This trip could not come at a better time for the team since this could be a perfect bonding experience.
------
Antero Nittymaki will start in net for San Jose and Marty Brodeur for the Devils. Anton Volchenkov and Lou Lamoriello are not in HP Pavilion in San Jose, but might meet up with team in Anaheim. Volchenkov will not play tonight or in Anaheim on Friday, but might return sometime on the trip. Saturday in Los Angeles is a long shot, so Vancouver on Monday is the more realistic target. It will be very interesting to see what type of reception Kovalchuk gets in Los Angeles on Saturday since he turned down a lucrative offer from them this past summer to return to the Devils. As I said the Devils must win 3 games on this trip to boost their confidence.
