Brodeur to start against Ducks, Josefson to sit out with sore hand

It will be Marty Brodeur in net tonight at 10 PM ET, when the Devils take on the Ducks in Anaheim hoping to get a winning streak going and break out of their disastrous slump. Rookie Jacob Josefson will sit out with a sore wrist and hand after being slashed on by a Sharks player on Wednesday. He says the hand is better today than yesterday and is hopeful of playing tomorrow. The Devils have places defenseman Mark Fraser on IR retroactive to his last game played against Buffalo on October 13th.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is en route to California at this moment and there is no word if Anton Volchenkov is with him or still skating in New Jersey. Volchenkov will not play tonight or tomorrow and its unlikely he will play in Vancouver on Monday, but who knows? Volchenkov is likely to return next Friday against the Rangers at Prudential Center, but my gut tells me with the 5 days off after the Ranger game, the Devils might hold him out until then. So, Wednesday November 10 against Buffalo is a good target for him and maybe some other injured players. As I mentioned, the Devils are getting closer to the time when they have to seriously consider making trades to solve their salary cap issues with Bryce Salvador and Brian Rolston getting closer to rejoining the team.
