Discipline an issue early on in the season

The NHL season is almost two weeks old and we already had numerous suspensions and controversial hits and gestures. The first was Michael Cammalleri swiping his stick at Nino Niederreiter of the Islanders during the preseason injuring his ankle. It was minor injury, but still it cost him one game. It followed by Nicklas Hjalmarsson's hit on Jason Pominville, which cost him two games and Coyotes Shane Doan on Dan Sexton of Anaheim, who also got two games. Pierre-Luc Letourneau-LeBlond of the Devils was suspended one game for an instigating penalty against Washington taking a run at Marcus Johansson. That led to a demotion to the minors. Yesterday, Rick Rypien of Vancouver confronted a referee and a fan and was suspended indefinitely today pending a hearing.

Last but not least, we all know the infamous sex gesture James Wisniewski of the Islanders waived at Rangers and NHL super pest Sean Avery. That cost Wisniewski a whopping 2 games. So, there you go discipline will have to be controlled in the young 2010-2011 season. Let's keep the game safe as possible.
