Should Devils fans be concerned about 0-2 start?

The Regular Season maybe 82 games long, but usually there are fans that give up on a team after game one. Relax Devils fans, there is no need for concern. I think the month of October will be tough for them, because all the salary cap issues are not sorted out. When Bryce Salvador is ready to return from his concussion, Lou will have to make moves and a trade is inevitable in the near future, but for now the Salvador concussion was a relief, but it definitely complicated things a bit. The Devils started out 0-2 last year and back in 2001-2002, I believe they were 0-3 or 0-4, so its not the end of the world.

Now, the focus should be solely on defense and goaltending, two areas that have struggled thus far for the Devils in first two games. Marty is playing terrible, but the team is not giving him enough offensive support. Brodeur will start against Pittsburgh and there is no indication when Hedberg will get the nod, but its likely to happen sometime this week.

So, there should be no concern, because as much as this is a no-excuse world, a new coach and new defense needs to adapt and create some sort of chemistry. So, I think things will be much more calm for the Devils once they get through this bumpy stretch, but the structure needs to improve. Tomorrow's game will be very huge for the Devils, because they certainly want to establish a winning feeling. Hopefully coach John MacLean had a team meeting today and explained to them that they needed a full 60 minute effort.
