Devils Drop Opener to Stars 4-3 in overtime
The Devils fell to the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime tonight at Prudential Center. Travis Zajac, Zach Parise and Jason Arnott tallied in losing effort. It was a tough debut for Devils defenseman Matt Taormina and most of the Devils new look defense. Puck Management seemed to be the biggest issue for the Devils and passes were not crisp tonight. The turning point of the game seemed to be the Kovalchuk shot off the left post, which could have been a 3-0 Devils lead instead turned into a 2-1 lead as Dallas scored seconds later. If there was a positive, the ZIP line or the Parise, Zajac and Kovalchuk unit looked good. Alexander Urbom looked good and Volchenkov was descent. Brodeur did not have a good game if you ask me as some shots were stoppable, but he will start on Saturday night in Washington. Loui Eriksson scored the winner for Dallas in overtime on a 2 on 1 rush with Tallinder the only defenseman back.
