Fox has returned to Cablevision customers

One day after reaching a re-transmission agreement with Dish Network, Fox has finally ended a two week stalemate with Cablevision and returned its programming to the carrier's 3 million customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It is believed that Cablevision agreed to the hefty Fox demands even though terms of the deal were not released. For the past two weeks Cablevision customers have seen various designed prompts and heard two voices on the Fox channel and the other Fox Networks telling them of News Corps Greed. The Networks affected by this dispute were FOX, FOX Business, MyNetwork TV or My9 and My17 in Philly, Fox Philadelphia and NatGeo Wild or National Geographic Wild. My9 airs a little over 20 Yankees games a year and occasionally a Nets game.

The two week stalemate ended minutes before the first pitch of Game 3 of the World Series. This deal means that Cablevision customers will not have to flock to bars and other people's houses with different cable and satellite providers to watch their favorite Fox Programming like the World Series or most notably tomorrows Jets vs Packers game. Other Fox Programming includes hit TV shows like House, Glee, Bones, Lie To Me, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Fringe. Fox also suspended its shows from Cablevision's Internet Customers, meaning they were unable to view its programming on sites like Fox.com and Hulu. Though some programming eventually made it to Hulu and Fox.com. Fox will also broadcast this years Super Bowl, but everyone knew that an agreement would be reached very soon despite the impasse they had.

It was widely believed that this feud was going to help Democrats in this Tuesdays midterm elections. Also, many thought this was a political stunt by both companies. I believe that in these types of disputes, the Cable provider is usually the one to blame since its customers lose. I am a Cablevision customer, but I was not worried about the dispute as I could care less if I go to a bar or miss a show. Next order of business for Cablevision is to finally get the NFL Network. It is believed the two sides could be in the verge of a breakthrough in the dispute. Enjoy the Jets game tomorrow.
