Former Devils defenseman Paul Martin is set to make his return tomorrow against the Devils in Prudential Center fir the first time since he signed there on July 1st. In fact Martin admitted that the Devils focus on trying to resign Ilya Kovalchuk was part of his reasoning to leave New Jersey, but also wanted to return. His home states Wild also made an offer, but it was not as good as the Penguins.
Martin said, he expects to get booed in Prudential Center, but it might not be healthy for Devils fans to do so since a lot of returnees and their teams have fared well in their return to face the Devils. Scott Niedermayer, Scott Gomez, and Brian Gionta to name a few. Niedermayer's Ducks defeated the Devils in February 2008 when he returned to face them. Gomez's Rangers dominated the Devils for the most part since he left New Jersey and Brian Gionta's Habs beat the Devils in January 2010 along with Scott Gomez, who is now on the Canadiens.
It will be a very crucial game for both teams who do not want to fall into an 0-3 hole especially for the Devils. We shall see tomorrow.
