There has not been much to cheer for this year for Devils fans, but tonight's win was the 10th reason to do just that as the Devils finally earned their tenth win of the season. The Devils got goals from Mark Fayne, Jamie Langenbrunner and Ilya Kovalchuk for a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers as the Devils avenged their 7-1 loss to them on December 18th. Dustin Byfuglien scored the lone Thrasher goal.
Johan Hedberg made 28 saves on 29 shots in the effort to end the 6 game bleeding for the Devils. The Devils scored 3 times on 28 shots against the Thrashers. It is their first 3 goal output since December 15 against Phoenix. Since then, they have only had one goal in 6 straight games. Hard to imagine, but true.
Let's now hope the Devils can throw away 2010 and their bad memories and get on a roll. But, it is looking more likely they will finish anywhere from 25-30th overall in league standings.
