Hoping to find some offensive sparks, the free-falling Devils recalled winger Vladimir Zharkov from Albany of the American Hockey League. It is unknown whether anyone was sent down to Albany, but Zharkov has joined the team today for practice. Very impressive for him to fins a way to make it in this snow. Zharkov has no career NHL goals in his partial rookie stint last year, but has 10 assists and was a plus 2 in +/- rating.
The Devils do not play until Wednesday night against the Rangers and are the most un-confident than they have ever been in their last 15 years. The Rangers would be a good team to beat just to start winning games with the playoffs 99.9% out of question. The Devils are 20 points out of a playoff spot and it would take a monumental comeback coupled with a monumental collapse from a current dominant team for them to get in, but that is unlikely with the way things are going. Right now, they look to be getting the #1 overall pick in the June entry draft and possibly select Center Sean Couturier. It is going to be an interesting rest of the season and summer to see how the Devils face lift is going to happen.
