Roughly 113,000 fans watched today's match-up between Michigan and Michigan State at the Big House at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbour. If there is one positive for Devils fan is that the future looks bright in terms of prospects. Defenseman Jonathan Merrill scored two goals in the game and Defenseman Brandon Burlon had two assists and David Wohlberg had a goal in UM's 5-0 rout over MSU.
All three are not expected to play for the Devils at least until the 2012-2013 season, although all made strong cases to compete for spots next year. Merrill has made along-term commitment to his development at Michigan. Burlon and Merrill were 2nd round picks in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Wohlberg was a 6th round pick by the Devils in 2008. But that is the only positive Devils fans had tonight, but again the season turmoil continued tonight with no sign of turning anything around.
