Devils face Capitals tonight in a match-up of two desperate teams

There could have been a lot of different elements in tonight's Capitals vs Devils match-up, the biggest being that we could have seen two new coaches behind each bench. However, that has not happened as Bruce Boudreau and John MacLean are still coshing their respective teams. The Capitals struggles are coinciding with the HBO Hard Knocks type series 24/7 on them and the Pittsburgh Penguins, who are also somewhat losing, but defeated the Coyotes yesterday 6-1.

The Capitals snapped their 8 games losing streak on Sunday night in Ottawa by winning 3-2 and rallying from a 2-0 deficit. The Devils will seek to avenge their 7-2 loss to the Capitals on October 9th at Verizon Center. Also, the Devils are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Thrashers 7-1 on Saturday, so tonight should be more of a defensive effort. But, knowing the Capitals, they are poised for an offensive explosion while the Devils offense is still sleeping.

Anssi Salmela will be a healthy scratch tonight and Matthew Corrente will be inserted in to the line-up. Disgruntled coach John MacLean thought about going with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, but chose to go with 12 and 6. Struggling goaltender Martin Brodeur will start for the Devils.
