Devils hoping to finally get on a roll despite being too far behind

It seems likely that the Devils will miss the playoffs this year, but it cannot stop them from trying to put together a long winning streak. After snapping their 5 game skid on Wednesday night against the Phoenix Coyotes, the Devils face the pesky and physical Predators squad tonight. This will be Jason Arnott's first game against his former Predators team. Arnott served as the captain for the Predators for the past few seasons.

Also, looking to build on Wednesday's game are Ilya Kovalchuk and Martin Brodeur. Kovalchuk had two goals and most are hoping he will finally get going. Brodeur had a shutout, but even going back to last year, he has not fared well in games following a shutout. The Devils will dress the same line-up that played Phoenix on Wednesday, so it should be a fun game.

Once again the holiday roster freeze is midnight Sunday until midnight December 27th, when it is lifted. The Devils might make a move by then to try to improve the team, but it is likely that Lou Lamoriello will not change a thing despite the team's struggles.
