Volchenkov, Brodeur to play vs Rangers tomorrow night, (Gionta and Davis recalled)

If all goes well in tomorrow's morning skate, Volchenkov and Brodeur are in for the Devils against the Rangers at Prudential Center. The Devils will seek their first home win of the year tomorrow and the Rangers would be a perfect opponent. After tomorrow nights game, the Devils do not play again until next Wednesday, November 10th against the Sabres at Prudential Center. Volchenkov will provide a park to the struggling Devils blue line. Brodeur's bruised elbow felt much better today.

The Devils today recalled forwards Patrick Davis and Stephen Gionta. Davis has one career NHL goal and Gionta will make his NHL debut tomorrow. Gionta is the younger brother of former Devils and current Montreal Canadiens Captain, Brian Gionta. David will be a healthy scratch. To make room for them, the Devils sent defenseman Tyler Eckford and forward Tim Sestito back to Albany. If Sestito played tomorrow, he would have to clear waivers to be sent down, so the Devils used that strategy. The Eckford sent down seems to be the indicator that Volchenkov will play tomorrow as said above.

Corrente and Rolston are almost ready to play and could both be available for Wednesday against Buffalo. Rolston would help the Devils power play when he gets back. Salvador is still "Status Quo," but he likely will remain out until December. Anssi Salmela is skating, but he is on target for January return if there is room for him. Obviously, Parise and Josefson are the out 3 months and 6-8 weeks respectively.
