It was a world-wind 24 hours for the Devils as they learned of the passing of former coach Pat Burns, but the focus tonight is solely on the St. Louis Blues as the Devils hope to honor their former coach by trying to turn their disastrous start around and get back into being a perennial playoff contender. One person hoping to provide a spark is goaltender Mike McKenna, who was called up from Albany and will make his first start for the Devils in his hometown of St. Louis. Former Devil and fan favorite Cam Janssen will not play tonight though, but neither is Pierre-Luc LeBlond for the Devils. Both LeBlond and Janssen were involved in one of the longest fights last season at Prudential Center.
Martin Brodeur will not play at all this week after an MRI revealed a deep bruise in his right elbow. He has no structural damage, but was forced by doctor to rest his elbow for 5-10 days, so he will only miss maximum two weeks. His target to return will be Thursday December 2nd at home against Montreal.

The Montreal Canadiens will honor Pat Burns along with the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight before their game at Bell Centre in Montreal. The Habs and the Leafs were Burns' first two head coaching jobs, so the tribute will happen in a form of a video montage and a moment of silence. It will be a perfect send off for him as the two original six teams face-off against each other. The Devils have not yet made any plans to wear a patch or initials anywhere on their uniforms or helmets in memory of Pat Burns, but its expected that they will at some point this season. Both the Devils and Bruins, his previous two head coaching jobs are also expected to honor Burns in the coming days. The Devils will likely do it on Monday before their game against Washington.
--------
The Funeral for Pat Burns will be held on Monday November 29th at Montreal Cathedral. The Devils have off on that day as well as the Bruins, Habs, and Leafs, so its likely everyone will attend his funeral, though Lou Lamoriello has not announced which Devils will attend. It is likely to be attended by hundreds or thousands.
