Tonight was finally the night, Kovalchuk, Youth, Power Play come through for Devils 1st home win of the year

Isn't it amazing how things in this world can change in 48 hours. Tonight was a perfect display as Kovalchuk was the hero in the Devils overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Prudential Center. It was their first home win of the year and they are now 1-5-2 at home for the year. The crowd cheered Kovalchuk and have probably forgave him for his blunder on Wednesday against Buffalo, which was rock bottom for a player of his caliber.

The Devils youth came through today as Alexander Vasyunov and Mattias Tedenby got their 1st career NHL goals. Brian Rolston also scored in his return from injury and the Devils were 2 for 3 on the power play including the tying and game winning goals. The Oilers blew a two goal lead twice in this game. They led 2-0 with both goals coming from Colin Fraser and 3-1 on a Sam Gagner tally, but the Devils kept fighting and probably got the type of win they needed.

The Buffalo Sabres are now the only team in the NHL without a home victory, but its coming for them. Hopefully this win is finally the one that sparks the team and gets them on a winning streak. Henrik Tallinder played probably his best game as a Devil tonight despite a poor first period by him. This was a redemption win for the Devils and they were send of by cheers to night and the right guy scored in overtime for them tonight.
