Devils again fail to start winning streak after 3-0 loss to Bruins in Boston. (Devils now shutout for 3rd time in last 6 games)

Sometime this year the Devils will put together a winning streak, it just did not start tonight. The Bruins took advantage of a 5 on 3 late in the 1st and that was a killer for the Devils as Michael Ryder scored on it. Back on October 16, the Devils failed to take advantage of a 5 on 3 in the first and tonight the Bruins did. Nathan Horton and Blake Wheeler each score early in the 2nd and 3rd respectively to give the Bruins a 3-0 edge. Tim Thomas shined again with 28 saves. The Devils were 0-2 on the Power Play.

The referee's again were miserable tonight especially calling Adam Mair for goaltender interference giving the Bruins a 5 on 3. Now the question is how long will John MacLean keep his job after another loss? The answer could come any day now and it would not surprise me if Lou fires him tomorrow. The team just needs a spark and a coaching change is probably the only chance for that spark. Marty Brodeur continued his early season struggles and continues to be battered with more questions about his play. Is it time for Marty Brodeur to be benched and be a backup an not a starter? That day seems like its coming.

The shutout loss tonight was their 3rd in the last 6 games. Back on November 1st, they lost 3-0 to the Canucks, on November 5, 3-0 to the Rangers and now another 3-0 loss to Boston. These are the types of losses that do get your coach fired. Now that Scott Gordon is gone on the Island, is it time for Lou to fire MacLean and bring in an experienced coach?
