Marty Brodeur missed today's practice again still being bothered by a bruised right elbow which he suffered in last Wednesday's game against Chicago. So, Johan Hedberg will make his second straight start for the Devils on Wednesday night against the Sabres. Brodeur is not ruling out sitting in as a backup depending on how the morning skate goes for him tomorrow if he does take the morning skate. But, it looks like Jeff Frazee will again be called up to backup Hedberg on an emergency basis. It would be perfect for Hedberg to start against Buffalo to seek revenge for what happened 2.5 weeks ago against them when the Sabres humiliated him in front of a good Prudential Center crowd. He will seek redemption tomorrow.
It looks like Brian Rolston will sit out tomorrow, but is 100% certain to play on Friday against Edmonton. Rolston missed the last month due to Sports Hernia Surgery. The Devils will not need to make a trade for anyone to clear room for Rolston, but will have to send someone down to Albany. This will open the door for Mattias Tedenby to make his NHL debut. Tedenby was the Devils 1st round choice, 24th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played for HV71 in the Swedish Elite League.
The Devils will again pitch for their first home win of the year tomorrow night and hopefully these 4 days off helped them in the process. I say its very crucial they win these next two games since its only going to get tougher with the parity in the league. The desperately need to get a winning streak going as I have been saying many times. They need to win 5 straight games or find a way to do so to get back into the thick of things. They are only 6 points out of the 8th spot and 7 out of the 4th spot so at least nobody is really dominating the East this year so far.
