Capitals draw first blood vs Rangers win 2-1 in OT.

It was a psychological game, but it ended brightly for the team that did not play psychological hockey. Alexander Semin on a pass from former Devil Jason Arnott scored for the Capitals late in the first overtime to seal a 2-1 win. Matt Gilroy gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead in Period 3 before Alexander Ovechkin tied it up late in the 3rd. Henrik Lundqvist played mind games with the Capitals, but that did not faze the team in red.

Game 2 in Friday night at 7:30, but Game 1 proved it will be a 6-7 game series. Lundqvist made 31 saves on 33 shots and Michal Neuvirth made 24 on 25 shots. Neuvirth's glove continues to be lightning quick. Hopefully he does not crumble under the pressure, but expect the Capitals to ride three goaltenders in the playoffs. That being Neuvirth, Braden Holtby, and Simeon Varlamov. It is the Caps first win vs the Rangers in Washington this year.

Capitals lead series 1-0.
