NHL Awards 2012 All Star Game to Ottawa

Well, so much for a Western Conference Arena hosting the All Star Game. The NHL's mid year classic is staying in the East in for a fourth straight time, this time in Ottawa. The game will be played on January 29, 2012 at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place, and the SuperSkills competition will be held the day before on January 28th. The 2011 game will be played at RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina on during the January 29-30 weekend.

Ottawa's festivities will begin earlier on January 26th. The game will be broadcast on CBC, RDS in Canada and Versus in the United States. The time of the game is yet to be announced, though the past two All Star Games started at 6 PM ET. The game will complete the Senators list of hosting every major NHL event.

Here is a list of NHL festivities held in Ottawa this decade:

-2007 Stanley Cup Final (Ottawa loses in 5 games to Anaheim)
-2005 NHL Entry Draft (Held in Westin Hotel in Ottawa, due to NHL Lockout the year before), Note: Sidney Crosby was #1 overall pick that year.
-2008 NHL Entry Draft (Held at Scotiabank Place, returned to Ottawa to make up for 2005)
