Devils invite Marcus Nilson to camp on tryout

Sorry for the delay in this story, but the Devils have confirmed yesterday that they have invited former NHL winger Marcus Nilson on a tryout basis to training camp. If Nilson makes the team, the Devils will have a strong Swedish presence in their line-up with guys like Mattias Tedenby, Jacob Josefson, Henrik Tallinder, Johan Hedberg and Alexander Urbom. Nilson played the 2009-2010 year for Djurgardens IF, the same team his potential Devils teammate Jacob Josefson played for. In 53 games last season he recorded 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points in the Swedish Elite League (SEL), and finished second in the league with goals. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello thinks he has a good shot to land a contract with the team and could help them. It might be tough though for him due to the number of potential NHL ready prospects expected to be at his camp. But, he can definitely proved some veteran leadership in that department for some of the Swedes coming to the Devils. Nilson last played in the NHL for the Calgary Flames and before that for the Florida Panthers.
